Cisco Open Sources Conversational AI Platform

By

Open source is something swirling around the minds of many – from artificial intelligence (AI), to the Internet of Things (IoT). The days of silos are coming to an end, as the barriers to development are crumbling. While it’s not quite the same as Ronald Reagan demanding, “Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall,” the impact of open source cause ripples around the globe.

In Spring of 2017, Cisco purchased, MindMeld and now it appears the conversational AI platform is being put to use. Recently, Cisco confirmed the transfer of MindMeld assets into an open source license – including developer documentation and a GitHub repository .

We are on the brink of AI making the main stage, and with its maneuvering; Cisco is poisoned to pounce on the enterprise market with its conversational AI Platform. A Cisco blog outlines a bit of what we can expect moving forward.

The Conversational AI Playbook unveiled concurrently provides developers a step by step guide exploring the nooks and crannies of MindMeld’s capabilities, in addition to best practice for AI application development.

“Cisco is taking a big step towards empowering developers with more comprehensive and practical tools for building conversational applications by open-sourcing the MindMeld Conversational AI Platform,” explained the Cisco blog.

Conversational AI is set to transform the way businesses and customers engage. The transformational technology is in its infancy, and by Cisco open sourcing the MindMeld platform it certainly offers the opportunity for incubating toward maturity. Optimism is high, but there is still much road to hoe.

The Future of Work appears to have a plan in place.
